Vickers presumably doubted that the Argentinians were fully entrusted to the allbig-gun ship concept, because at the same time as the previous design (in may 1906) they also offered them Design 214 a typical pre-Dreadnought battleship design with 2x2 12" and 6x2 9,2".
Actually this design is the same as G series of preliminary designs of the Lord Nelson class battleships except using 4" guns in casemates rather 3" in guns in the upper deck.
The design had the following characteristics:
Dimensions: 131,06 (pp) 141 (wl) x 23,32 x 7,47m
Displacement: 14.500tons (standard)
Armour: 25mm Deck, 229mm Belt
Engines: 14.000shp, Vertical Triple Expansion Engines, 2 shafts
Speed: 34km/h (18,5knots)
Armaments:
2x2 12"/45 (305mm/45) Vickers Mk B Cannons,
6x2 9,2"/50 (234mm/50) BL Mk IX Guns,
14x1 4"/50 (102mm/50) Vickers Mk A Guns,
2x1 457mm Underwater Torpedo Tubes
