The First Modern Destroyer

IJN Ayanami, sister ship of the IJN Fubuki the leading class of such destroyers of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
They were considered the first modern destroyers, featuring heavy armament both in guns and torpedoes, they were fast and had modern superstructures. They were fought admirably in the second world war even damaging the battleship USS South Dakota with gunfire which was achived by this very ship, the Ayanami!
Out of the 24 ships built only 2 survived the war.
