Royal Navy GW11 Convoy Escort Design

GW11 was a step beyond the previous proposals for convoy escorts which were considered as slow or convoy speed ones.
This version increased the speed to a considerable 32knots eg a fast escort and which could easily escort both convoys and main fleets of the Royal Navy. This of course meant not just lengthening the hull but also doubling the engine power from 60.000shp of the previous version to 120.000shp and introducing the Gas Turbine in the line, the first among the GW series! The larger hull allowed installation for an extra pair of twin 3" Guns as well as increase the missile stowage from 90 to 120 units. Note that at this time the Sea Slug missile was still in development and it's size still not finalised!
None the less the design grow to a large escort vessel with limited armament yet heavier then the 1930's treaty Light Cruisers!

The design had the following characteristics:
Dimensions: 178.30m (wl) x 21,94 x 5,41m

Engines: 120.000shp, Combined Steam and Gas Turbines (Probably English Electric Y100 and Y101), 4 shafts
